Who Needs Email on a Mobile?
Small business owners are using mobile email solutions to create work-life balance
and to reduce the stress that small entrepreneurs deal with daily.
When you’re running a small or home based business your ability to access files,
check your email and respond to client inquiries or supply issues are all critical
factors. In a career spent analyzing and designing business systems no group of
people have struck me as more committed, or stretched for time, than small business
owners. That’s why I see this new generation of cell phone, PDA and mobile alert
technologies as life changing for this particular group.
Why do I Need Mobile Email? I’ve got a Mobile and I’ve got Email!
Sure you’ve got you email hooked up to your laptop or computer at your home office.
Yes, you’ve got a cell phone. Now just imagine how cool it would be if your cell
phone or PDA could alert you whenever something critical hit your inbox. What if
you could glance at your Blackberry or Palm Pilot and know immediately if you had
any new emails you needed to address right now?
This is what I find so powerful. You can actually monitor and check your email without
even plugging in your laptop. Talk about saving time! The ability to preview email
on mobile or cell phones is going to open up a whole new era for home based and
small business owners. Let’s face it. The reasons you own a business probably include
your desire for a certain lifestyle. It may be based on what you can do, where you
can go, or who you can spend your time with; but you’ve got a lifestyle in mind.
The irony is that most small business owners are so tied to their businesses, they’ve
become jobs.
When I advise business owners on ways to streamline their businesses, I always make
sure that they have the best tools for the job. So when you are looking for mobile
alert services make sure that the providers you consider offer:
- Remote wiping capability,
- Access to all your email folders, and
- Security protection
This is a great time to be a small business owner. Your ability to systemize your
business and stay connected anywhere has never been greater. If you use an email
preview or mobile alert to keep an eye on your business at a distance, you might
find that you’re better connected to it (and the important people in your life)
than you’ve ever been.
